TCRC Road Race Teams
TCRC
will have four 4 race teams this
year, listed below. Except for
Juniors, the money TCRC is providing
can only be used for USAC race/omnium
entry fees for the corresponding
category. Each team will decide
their own schedule, and it is not
limited to TBRA races, as some non-TBRA
USAC races may be closer and/or more
competitive. Juniors will have a
kit (jersey and shorts/bibs)
provided, and can also use the money
in their budget to help with travel
and/or lodging expenses. For all of
the teams, we are looking for racers
with a commitment to race a majority
of the season, learn and use team
tactics, represent TCRC well, and
have some fun!
For
each team except Masters, the Board
of Directors has selected a manager,
and each manager has a board member
to work and consult with. If you
are interested in racing for TCRC,
contact the appropriate manager
below. Although we encourage those
of ages and ability that can race in
two categories to do so (Juniors and
Masters could potentially race Cat 3
and Cat 4 also), you will need to
pick one team to work with for
financial support, preferably the
team you plan to do the most racing
with. This will make it more fair
for all racers.
TCRC
membership is required, which you
can take care of on the web site.
If you don't have a TCRC jersey yet,
get your order in immediately. You
will need time to receive your
confirmation on your jersey
order and get a check to us by March
1st. (See Kit Orders further down
this page.) For Masters, Jay Brewer
has raised support for a Masters
team, and they will have their own
jersey with those sponsors (in
addition to TCRC) on it, so be sure
to contact Jay for the details on
the Masters jerseys also.

Tri Cities Cyclery
Closes:
It is
with great regret and sadness that we
have to inform you, Tri-Cities Cyclery
is not going to survive this economy and
will be closing.
I am letting you know that I still
intend to serve on the board and will
handle the clothing issue (if you still
want me). I have some ideas that might
help get rid of old stock. We can
discuss this at a later date.
I wish that this could have worked out,
but Ruth, Robert and I can no longer
continue to keep the shop open with the
lack of business.
We would like to say that it has been a
real pleasure working with all the
cyclists in the area and hope to still
see all of you on the rides. We have had
a great time and have met some of the
nicest people and will miss just hanging
out and talking about bikes. If only one
thing good comes from this, it will be
that we have more time to do what it was
that got us into this....... ride.
Hope to see you all soon on the road.
We apologize for any inconvenience that
this might cause, but the bell has rung
and this is the last lap.
Thanks for all your support.

Zach Nave
Brings Experience to King College
Cycling Program
Last
Fall King College in Bristol, TN,
launched their first ever cycling
program under the tutelage of coach Dan
Kriess. Included on the early roster
was, Brad Hughes, who is also a member
of TCRC. Brad raced cross at MSG and the
First Annual Tornado Cross held on the
Campus of King College as a member of
the KCT Tornados. Currently the King
Team is made up of 5 men and 3 women.
All eight are at the beginning level of
bicycle racing. Zach started racing in
2005 at the beginner level and in five
short years has steadily climbed the
categories. The 2010 road season will
see Zach racing at the upper echelon of
the sport as a Pro 2. The addition of
Zach to the roster will bring years of
experience on the road. Zach's
experience as a Pro 2 racer, multiple
wins, multiple top ten placing, ability
to crash, slide, bounce and recover, and
his knowledge of tactics, will
strengthen the program and offer a
sounding board for other riders. We are
very proud that two members of TCRC who
have made it on the roster at King.
February 6th will be the beginning of
the first full year of racing for the
new team, and with two TCRC riders in
the line up, I expect great things for
the King College Cycling Program. For
the official announcement please click

Blew into Tornado Cross 49
riders rode the Tornado at the first annual
event on the campus of King College in Bristol.
This being the third cross race
organized by the TCRC this year, proved to be another CX success.
Riders were surprised by the difficulty of the
Tornado course demanding: technical skills,
climbing skills, and endurance, the Tornado was
no dust devil. The word is out on the awesome
course on the beautiful campus of King
College and next year attendance is expected to
grow. The college administration, coaching staff
and cycling team were top notch helping make
this a success. Hopefully next season will see
it on the SECCC calendar. Thanks to Coach Dan
Kriess, and the fledgling King College Cycling
Team for all of their help setting up, racing
and taking down and to the race officials for
donating their time. All proceeds from this
event will go to support the
King College Cycling
program.

is Coming to Bristol this Weekend!
Come out and ride the tornado at "Tornado Cross"

bunch of tight turns, and short steep hills at
the top before descending back to the lower half
of the course. Course set up and design by the
